Karen Pittman is not coming back And just like that…
After joining Sex and the city reboot of the series for two seasons, Pittman will exit before the third season due to production and scheduling conflicts with other streaming series. Pittman also stars Morning show on AppleTV+ and Netflix’s upcoming series Forever.
The 37-year-old actress played Professor Nya Wallace, a friend of Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) in the Max show.
“It was a pleasure to have Karen Pittman as the smart and captivating Professor Nya Wallace for the first two seasons And just like that…,” Max’s spokesperson said in a statement to PEOPLE. “Just as we thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so did others.”
“Due to her commitments with two other streamer series, it became apparent that filming three shows at once was not possible,” explained a representative of the streamer.
“Due to the realities of production, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of Season 3 And just like that…“, added the representative. “Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”

The actress joined the reboot from the beginning and became one of the new friends of the main cast: Miranda, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). Pittman was joined by Nicole Ari Parker and Sarita Choudhury, who play Charlotte’s friend Lisa Todd Wexley and Carrie’s friend Seema Patel, respectively.
Nya divorced her husband Andre (LeRoy McClain) in season two, while Miranda split from her husband Steve (David Eigenberg). While both women went through separation, they soon found love and stood by each other as they entered into new relationships.

Pittman previously told PEOPLE that it was “a lot of fun to portray” a woman who is experiencing a change in her romantic relationships.
She also talked about her character’s friendship with Miranda, noting how their dynamic “exploration[s] female relationships and how women support each other through these challenging times in funny and comedic ways,” she explained to PEOPLE.
“That’s what I think the show does so well,” Pittman added. “It’s about sisterhood and female friendship, but it’s also really about love. It’s a joyful place to be.”

While fans can now expect her departure from the Max series, she will return to AppleTV+ Morning show for its fourth season. Pittman will reprise her role as Mia Jordan, the producer of Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon).
In addition, Netflix announced earlier this month that Pittman will star in a reimagining of Judy Blume’s 1975 novel. Forever. Pittman will play Dawn Edwards, the mother who will guide Justin Edwards (Michael Cooper Jr.).
