Karnail Rana is an Indian singer from Himachal Pradesh. He is famous for his Himachal folk songs. His first audio tape “Chambe Patne Do Bediyan” came out in 1989.

Karnail Rana was born on Tuesday, 30 April 1963 (age 59; as of 2022) in Rakwal Lad village, Tehsil Jawalamukhi Upper Garauer, Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh. He studied at Government High School, Garauer and graduated from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla in 1986. Karnel Rana passed the B-Class Folk Music Vocal Examination at All India Radio, Shimla. He also holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Kota, Rajasthan. His father was also interested in singing, which is why he was also interested in folk music. He is now settled in Subhash Nagar, Upper Sako, Dharamshala.

In 1994, his debut album “Chambe Patne Do Bediyan” was appreciated by people from all walks of life. After the release of his first album, he sang on more than 150 albums and became a star singer. In December 1988, he was appointed artist of the theater unit of Himachal Pradesh Department of Information and Public Relations.

He recorded different folk songs such as Ek Joda Soute Da, Kajo Nain Milaye, Fauji Munda Aai Gaya Holiday, Do Naraan, Dade Di Bediye, Bindu Neelu Do Sakhiyan, Horna Patna and O Naukra Amb Pake O Ghar Aa, Nindre Pare-Pare Chali Jayan , O Ghari Bhar Ram Japana , Dhudu Nachaya Jata O Khalari Ho and Hun O Katainin Jo Nasda Dhudua among others. The songs are related to the Goddess, Shiva hymns, Baba Balak Nath and traditional folk songs. Karnel Rana has also been represented as an artist at various public forums in Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir Take command. Karnail Rana has received awards from various social, political, governmental and non-governmental organizations. He retired from the post of Assistant Public Relations Officer, Himachal Pradesh Information and Public Relations Department on April 30, 2021.

Karnail Rana is a staunch follower of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has also been appointed as the national organizer of the cultural cell of the BJP in Himachal Pradesh. He has performed before Governors, Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, dignitaries, executive and Army officers.
