Kartik Tyagi was born on Wednesday, 8 November 2000 (age 20 in 2020) in Dhanaura village, Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. Kartik studied at LN Public School, Hapur, but he was least interested in studies. Kartik’s father was not financially well off, and he did not want his son to become a farmer like him. After considering various things, Kartik’s father enrolled his 11-year-old son in the Meerut City Professional Cricket Academy. After trying out different cricket branches for a few months, Tyagi realized his potential in fast bowling. With time, his performance improved and he kept taking advantage of the opportunities that came his way.

Kartik Tyagi comes from a low-income farming family. His father’s name is Yogendra Tyagi and his mother’s name is Nandini. Kartik’s father, Yogendra Tyagi, was also a budding athlete at a young age and was a keen shooter; however, he was unable to pursue the sport due to lack of family support. While Kartik Tyagi gave his all on the field, his father also gave his all off the field by providing Kartik with quality training facilities. Yogendra was also a farmer himself and therefore never let his son Kartik step into the fields.

At the age of 13, Kartik Tyagi was selected for the Uttar Pradesh Under-14 team and later for the Uttar Pradesh Under-16 team. He took 50 wickets in his first season at the Under-16 level. His performance impressed the Uttar Pradesh cricket team selectors so much that he was selected directly for the senior Ranji Trophy team before being selected for the Under-19 team. Kartik played his first Ranji Trophy match for Uttar Pradesh against Railways in Lucknow on 6 October 2017 at the age of 16. He played his first Grade-A match for Uttar Pradesh against Delhi FC in Bilaspur on 5 February 2018. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping INR 130 million at the 2020 Indian Premier League player auction. He was also part of India’s Under-19 World Cup squad for 2020. He took 11 wickets in the six matches he played in the tournament.
On October 6, 2020, Kartik Tyagi made his T20 debut for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians.
On December 19, 2023, at the 2024 Indian Premier League auction held at the Coca-Cola Stadium in Dubai, Gujarat Titans acquired Kartik for Rs 60 lakh against the reserve price of Rs 20 lakh.
