KATE Ferdinand was a proud stepmother as she posed with Lorenzo Ferdinand at a big celebration of his career so far.
The 17-year-old is following in the footsteps of his father Rio Ferdinand, and has just finished a season in Brighton’s youth set-up.

Lorenz later collected the trophy at the club’s player awards and Kate spoke of how proud she was of the effort he had put in.
“And so the season is over. Such a proud moment watching you receive your award last night,” she wrote on Instagram.
“It’s been a joy to watch you grow and I feel so lucky to be on this journey with you.
“I love you so much and we’re all so happy to have you home for the summer before the hard work resumes.”
In the picture, Lorenz wore a dark blue suit and resembled his famous football player father with a recognizable smile.
Another photo shows Kate cuddling her toddler son Cree, who showed his support for his big brother in a Brighton and Hove Albion shirt.
The young man kept his hand resting on his mother’s shoulder, and his face was turned away from the camera to protect his privacy.
Football is in Lorenzo’s blood, and three members of his family play in the Premier League – which he also aspires to do.
But while dad Rio made a name for himself as a central defender for West Ham and Manchester United, Lorenz is doing things his own way – as a goalkeeper at the Gulls’ academy.
Father-of-five Rio had three children – Lorenzo, Tate, 15, and 12-year-old Tia – with his first wife Rebecca Ellison, who tragically died of breast cancer in 2015.
Kate and Rio have been together since 2016 and married in 2019. Together they have a three-year-old son, Cree, and a daughter, Shae, who was born in July 2023.

In June last year, Kate launched a children’s picture book, The Family Tree, based on her experiences as a stepmother and in a blended family.
“I feel so grateful to have been able to create this book, I hope you enjoy the magic of this story with your little ones and it also helps start conversations that can be difficult within blended families.”
“Not all stepmothers are evil and I really hope we can start to change the narrative by having positive childhood stories.”
