Katie Couric has just revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be treated in June 2022. She shared a photo of herself wearing a mask on social media and wrote:
“In the United States, every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer.” I became one of them on June 21.”
She added that as Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaches, she wants to share her experience with everyone. The experienced presenter advises women to examine their bodies and “realize that you may be one of those who need more mammograms.” She added that she published an article about it on her website and ended up calling for people to reach out to cancer patients.

Katie Couric shares her cancer diagnosis.
Katie Couric shared some facts about her cancer diagnosis in an article posted on her website. In July this year, she underwent cancer surgery, and in September began radiation therapy. Couric said her first husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer and her sister died of pancreatic cancer. She also said she had a “floating cartoon feeling” after being diagnosed.
Katie said her family has a history of cancer and there is no way she will be spared. She said that four days after announcing she was ill, she contacted both of her girls via FaceTime. She added that their expressions froze in surprise and terror before starting to cry when she told them the news.
While comforting them, she said that she was also trying to convince herself that she would be fine. Katie continued:
“They’ve lost their parents. The thought of losing someone else seems so confusing.”
She also asks people to have an annual mammogram. The presenter went on to say that she was six months late and was terrified of what would happen if she waited a little longer. She ended by asking everyone if they needed anything more.
