Katie Holmes Gives a Glimpse of Midriff at Chanel Opening in NYC

Katie Holmes is having a moment.

The Rare items star, 45, hit the red carpet Wednesday night for the Chanel 5th Avenue opening party in New York and showed off her usual timeless flair.

She wore a suit and pants set designed by the luxury brand.

Holmes posed in a black Chanel V-neck cashmere cardigan that featured a slightly revealing midriff. A black lace bralette peeked out from underneath, elevating her look.

The Alone together the actress matched her cashmere cardigan with coordinating black Chanel wide-leg cashmere trousers.

For the grand opening of Chanel’s new jewelry line, Holmes suitably dazzled photographers with her many jewels, including a silver choker that perfectly complemented her plunging V-neck top.

She carried a black Chanel bag and to offset the dark tones, the actress wore a colorful touch with her sultry red lips. Holmes’ hair was pulled into a low ponytail with side-swept bangs.

Holmes loves a good fashion statement, whether she’s wearing a dress over jeans — which she still owns — or twinning with Meghan Markle.

Last June, Holmes and her mom, Kathleen Stothers-Holmes, had a stylish outing at the New York City Ballet, and the actress kept her look on point.

She wore ballet flats with a floor-length black knit dress by Chloé on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Opera House. The knit pattern on the sleeveless dress was distressed by an open knit pattern on her torso, adding a chic sheer look to the ensemble.

Holmes completed her look with a ’90s-inspired hairstyle, with long and layered hair slicked back and layered gold necklaces.

Katie Holmes’ red carpet look has a little bit of everything: mesh, glitter and velvet fringe

But even though Holmes always appears on the red carpet, she – like the rest of us – likes a casual moment at home. She said Glamour last April, “I think we all want our sweats,” referring to the look she was photographed in just before the interview. It was a blazer paired with a t-shirt and jogging pants when you were out on the town.

“It’s a funny world because the celebrity culture and the approach that exists now can be quite distracting from who that person is,” she said. “I’m an actor, so people say, ‘Oh, do you think about what you’re going to wear before you go to the store?’ No, because it’s not my job. You know what I mean? But yesterday, going and hosting a talk show is part of my job. So, yeah, it’s put together.”
