Katy Perry's American Idol Finale Looks Include Towering Gown and Sweet Nod to Her 7 Seasons: See the Pieces

Katy Perry is ending her time American Idol with a tailor’s high note.

The singer, 39, served as a judge on the reality singing competition series for seven seasons and celebrated her final episode during the season 22 finale on Sunday, May 19. Perry wore two special looks for the occasion, each paying homage to her time on the show.

During the emotional finale, Perry took the stage with third-place contestant Jack Blocker in a silver corset dress with a massive skirt emblazoned with the faces of 168 exes Idol contestants — the top 24 from each of the seven seasons the singer judged. She stood on a high platform to show a tall whole.

“I thought a good way to honor my time here would be to put the top 24 of each season on my skirt so everyone would be there. It was a fun surprise because I got up and you saw more and more contestants,” said the “Fireworks” singer. Party tonight after the show.

“It’s been… 7 years,” Perry captioned an Instagram post showing off the final look. The carousel also included a video of a team of people carrying a flared dress into the studio.

The star wore another notable look during the broadcast – a golden armor decorated with seven 3D roses. She shared on Instagram that the piece represents the seven seasons she was in Idol. Perry paired the corset top with a floor-length white skirt.

Perry seemed emotional throughout American Idol final, in which Abi Carter took the title. She cried and hugged fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as Carter performed Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”

The Idol the winner was up against Will Moseley and Jack Blocker, who were second and third, respectively.

The “California Girls” singer joined. Idol as a judge alongside Bryan, 47, and Richie, 74, in 2018 for ABC’s revival of the series after its original 15-season run on Fox.

After seven seasons, she announced her exit from the reality series Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February 2024. At the time, she teased that she had more projects, including new music, coming later in the year.

“I think this will probably be my last show, my last season Idol,” Perry said. “I mean, I love it Idol so much.”

“He connected me to the heart of America, but I feel like I have to go out and feel that pulse in my own rhythm, you know what I’m saying Jimmy?” she added, winking at host Jimmy Kimmel.
