Who was Kavita Chaudhary?
Kavita Chaudhary passed away in Amritsar at the age of 67 after a heart attack on February 15, 2024. Her nephew Ajay Sayal confirmed her death. Kavita rose to fame with her role as Kalyani Singh in the TV show Udaan in 1989. Her funeral was held on February 16, 2024.
Kavita’s nephew Ajay said,
“She died of cardiac arrest on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. She breathed her last at Parvati Devi Hospital in Amritsar, where she was undergoing treatment.”
Fans of Kavita Chaudhary know her for her role as IPS officer Kalyani Singh in the 1989 serial Udaan. She played both the screenwriter and the director of the series. Kavita was inspired by the life of her sister Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya who was the second IPS officer after Kiran Bedi.
Kavita was known as a symbol of women empowerment during that period as there were few women IPS officers portrayed in films and television at that time. She has produced TV shows such as Your Honor and IPS Diaries.
She was also known for her role as Lalitaji in iconic surf ads during the 1980s and 1990s. The character Lalitaji is a smart housewife who is careful with her finances and consistently makes wise decisions.
