The actress, 43, who plays NYPD detective Amanda Rollins on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, exclusively opened to PEOPLE at the show’s 25th anniversary celebration on Tuesday night about balancing work and family life.

Giddish also says the support she received from the TV crew while welcoming her babies was “amazing”.
“The love and support I felt at 180 pounds on a national network TV show,” she says.

Meanwhile, at an event on Tuesday night, which was held at New York’s The Edge, the mother-of-three also revealed why she thinks Law and order: SVU could have lasted 25 seasons.
“I think it’s a difficult topic for us to talk about,” she tells PEOPLE. “But we present it in a way that it has a beginning, a middle and an end, so there is some kind of end [and] it gives the audience a kind of determination and a kind of relief, I think.”
He adds that running into fans is the “most rewarding” part of acting on the show.
“[It’s] the interactions I have in a coffee shop where someone will just come up and say thank you – it means the world. It’s great.”
The star also says that she is always grateful when a fan recognizes her in public. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s me,'” she says.
Rollins — who left ALL 2022 after 12 seasons, but is now back as a guest star — also reveals the motivation behind her decision to return to the set.
“It’s the fans and it’s such a pleasure to come back and be with the family a little longer. It’s really fun. I’m going to step into Rollins’ shoes again,” she says.
