Students and staff were evacuated from a Kentucky high school after a “strong odor of gas” was reported Tuesday morning, according to a statement from Oldham County police.
Resource Officer at Oldham County High School in Buckner, Ky. reported a strong smell of gas inside the building around 11 a.m. Oldham Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services attended the scene to assist in the evacuation of pupils and staff.
It was determined that there was no gas leak, and the smell came from a liquid substance that the 17-year-old student allegedly poured into two trash cans.

OCPD reported that the liquid is “a non-toxic concentrated liquid product commonly advertised on the Internet for use in pranks.” Oldham County High School called him “fart spray”, reports The Oldham Era and local media outlet WAVE.
Students and staff returned to class after OCFD removed the odor.
However, it was reported that seven students were assessed for discomfort but did not require medical attention. “There is no further information available at this time regarding other additional illnesses or medical conditions arising from the incident,” OCPD said.
