Keshia Knight Pulliam is a mom of two!

She and her husband Brad James welcomed their son Knight in April 2023. The Cosby Show the actress is also mother to daughter Ella, 7, with ex-husband Ed Hartwell.

He filed for divorce from Pulliam in July 2016 after six months of marriage and just a week after Pulliam announced she was pregnant with a baby girl. The former NFL player also requested a paternity test.

Pulliam spoke about the split in an interview with Party tonight, saying, “Despite all this, I am grateful for my blessing, which is my little girl.” The Beauty salon the star welcomed Ella Grace in January 2017.

On January 23, 2017, Pulliam welcomed her daughter, Ella Grace Hartwell. She announced the news with a sweet photo on Instagram, writing, “Ella Grace has arrived!!!!”

At the time of her birth, Pulliam and Hartwell were in the midst of a tumultuous divorce, and Hartwell requested a paternity test.

In August 2016, Pulliam shared that the heartbreak caused by the divorce had a big impact on her daughter’s middle name.

“When I tell you through all of this, God’s grace was with us and covered us and protected us — she was my saving grace to get through it,” Pulliam said in an episode of her podcast, Honestly Keshia. “It’s not about me. It’s about her. It’s about her being okay.”

Ella lives primarily with Pulliam and her stepfather James in Atlanta. The family lives on a farm, which seems to suit Ella just fine.

In the summer of 2022, Ella started riding lessons. “My big girl has officially started riding lessons and I’m so proud!! Like me, she loves horses,” Pulliam wrote in an Instagram post, adding, “Happy to have a little riding partner now.”

As for whether she’ll follow in her mother’s footsteps, Pulliam said it’s a possibility.

“She’s aware that mom is an actress,” Pulliam said during an interview with Party tonight 2020. “And the other day she said: ‘So mom, can I be an actor when I grow up?’ Whatever it is [Ella] in the end he decides to do, I absolutely support.”

Ella is very close to her stepfather. In February 2022, Pulliam posted a photo of James getting a makeover (courtesy of Elle) and wrote, “Love is painting your nails blue and wearing them proudly in public!! #GirlDad.”

According to her mom, Ella is also a caring older sister.

“Ella is the best big sister ever,” Pulliam told PEOPLE in October 2023. “So much so that sometimes I have to remind her that I’m their mom and she’s not their mom! But they love each other so much that it’s just joy. The way his face lights up when he sees her is incredible.”

In early April 2023, Pulliam and James had their baby boy.

“We are complete with this little one,” the new mom of two wrote in an Instagram post, adding that her son decided to come very close to her birthday. “What an eventful birthday week… 😆.”

Pulliam revealed the boy’s name, Knight, a month later in a Mother’s Day post.

Pulliam started dating James in 2019 after they met on the set of a TV movie Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta. The For better or worse the actor proposed a year later. Pulliam’s rep confirmed the engagement to PEOPLE, saying the couple is “excited to find their happily ever after.” In September 2022, they were married in a small ceremony at their home in Atlanta.

A few months after their wedding, Pulliam told PEOPLE about her experience with egg freezing. “I started freezing my eggs,” she said, before explaining that various procedures had been canceled due to COVID-19. “So I couldn’t go on,” she added.

Although she and James were disappointed to have to postpone their plans, they remained “open to pregnancy” the “old fashioned way”.

Then in December 2022, Pulliam and James appeared together on Show Tamron Hall to say that they were expecting their first child together.

Pulliam, visibly pregnant, told the host that it felt “so good” to finally speak publicly about it. “It’s not that I was trying to hide it,” she said, “but when you’ve had a miscarriage, when you’ve gone through this journey, you just want to enjoy the moment and you want to make sure everything’s OK.”
