Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s 2 Kids: All About Travis and Sosie

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s children are following in their footsteps.

The Hollywood power couple, who have been married since 1988, are the proud parents of two grown children: son Travis, 34, and daughter Sosie, 32. Both have built careers in the entertainment industry, with Travis working as a musician and producer and Sosie on her own she becomes a successful actress in her own right.

Over the years, Free star and Closer The actress was candid about parenthood and the impact it had on their lives.

“Motherhood really defines me,” Sedgwick said during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I mean, I’ve always been an actor and you know I have my career, my life and always have, but ‘mom’ is my title. It’s the thing I think about in the morning, it’s the thing I think about when I go to sleep.”

During a 2013 interview with Vulture, Bacon opened up about his parenting style. “When I go home, I try to raise my children with honesty and integrity and teach them to care about the world and each other,” he told the news outlet.

In 2005, the whole family starred in the film Lover, produced and directed by Bacon himself. Sedgwick played the lead, while Sosie played Sedgwick’s younger self, and their son, Travis, had a supporting role. Travis and Sosie continued to work with their parents on several other projects in the years since.

Travis Bacon, 34

The couple welcomed their first child, Travis Bacon, in Los Angeles on June 23, 1989.

Travis has followed in the musical footsteps of his father – who makes up one half of the band The Bacon Brothers – and is a producer, composer and musician, according to his Instagram bio. He is currently the frontman of the industrial metal band CONTRACULT Collective.

In November 2021, Sedgwick shared a photo of Travis performing with his band at the Welcome to Rockville music festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. The video showed a giant screen showing Travis live as he played guitar and sang into a microphone.

“My incredibly talented child rocked the house yesterday and I was lucky enough to be there!” she wrote in her caption.

Another thing that Travis has in common with his father is his love for the horror genre. In August 2022, Travis announced on Instagram his latest project, Slashtag Cinema, which he described as “a whole new universe of short horror films”. He added that all the short films “will be written, shot, scored and acted” by him and two friends.

Travis has also worked with Mom and Dad on various film projects as a music composer. He recently worked on the film 2022 A cosmic oddityin which Sedgwick directed and Bacon starred.

While Travis mostly stays out of the spotlight, he made a rare appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of his sister’s horror film Smile in Santa Monica, California, in September 2022.

Sosie Bacon, 32

Bacon and Sedgwick’s youngest child, Sosie Bacon, was born on March 15, 1992.

Now 32 years old, Sosie has made a name for herself as an actress. Her credits include, above all, HBO Mare of Eastown, Narcos: Mexico, Netflix’s 13 reasons why and Here and now.

She started at a young age, landing her first film role in 2005 Lover, in which she played a younger version of her mother’s character. Bacon, who directed the film, said New York Magazine that he made the decision to cast Sosie as the director rather than her father because he believed she was perfect for the role.

“I just couldn’t resist,” he said of announcing his decision. He added, “Of course, Kyra was like, ‘Well, well, if you really want to…’ But Sosie was cool. She kind of got it out of her system. She said, ‘Oh, that was fun — now I’m giving back go to school.”

In November 2013, Sosie was crowned Miss Golden Globe, and her parents expressed their delight at the honor.

“I am very, very proud of my little girl,” Bacon told PEOPLE. “I’m proud of her 365 days a year, and Kyra and I will be even more proud of her that night.”

He added after the event: “I couldn’t really imagine the amount of press and pressure and interviews and doing these kinds of things that she would be asked to do… She just handled it brilliantly. It was like she’d been doing it her whole life. it’s our head.”

Although Bacon and Sedgwick support Sosie’s acting career, they also expressed their concerns.

“As an actor, there’s so much rejection,” Sedgwick said in the magazine’s October 2017 issue. Good housekeeping. “Kevin and I have had painful experiences and you don’t want your child to go through that. But I do [Sosie] to follow her passion, and acting became her passion.”

In September 2022, Sosie landed her first leading role in a feature film, starring in a horror film Smile. Speaking to PEOPLE about the film, Bacon shared how proud he is of his daughter.

“When she got this role [in Smile]even knowing how hard she worked and knowing she was good, when I saw the movie I was really taken aback,” he said. “Not only because of how great she was, but how difficult the role is, because it’s one of those parts where there is no break.”

He continued: “Usually you start out and the character is pretty happy for at least, you know, 15 or 20 minutes before everything turns horrible. But it’s a movie where the stress level [insane]. I was very proud of her.”

In January 2023, the father-daughter duo starred together in a commercial for Hyundai’s latest electric vehicle.
