Kevin Costner and his estranged wife Christine have spoken in court about their plans to move forward while their divorce proceedings continue.
The exes appeared in court in Santa Barbara on Thursday and Friday for a child support hearing, which ended up going in Kevin’s favor as the judge ordered him to pay $63,209 a month instead of the $161,592 Christine was asking for.
Both Kevin and Christine, who married in 2004, became emotional during testimony during the proceedings and shared what they see as their next steps after the breakup.
Christine – who now lives in a $40,000-a-month apartment after being ordered by a court to move out of their family home – testified that she is considering going back to school for a college degree.
“I’ll look at the steps I need to take and the schooling I need to do, and then I’ll get a job,” Christine, 49, told the forum about how she will support herself in the future.

When Kevin, 68, took the stand, he admitted that “my world was rocked a bit” as a result of the split. Speaking about how he plans to move on, the Oscar winner said: “I have to take care of commitments that are already there, I have a lot of commitments to take care of.”

“I have to figure out how I’m going to spend more time with the kids, get them through this process,” he added. “I will have to take some time for myself… I have a lot to think about – what I have do in relation to what i want to make.”
With his running Yellowstone over, the star is also working on his multi-film passion project Horizon: An American Saga. He said that in court Horizon is a “really big risk” for him, since he has invested so much in it.
Kevin and Christine have three teenagers: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. She filed for divorce on May 1, citing April 11 as the separation date. Kevin’s rep said in a statement at the time that “circumstances beyond his control occurred that resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in the divorce action.”

During his testimony on Friday, Kevin recalled his “epic” first date with Christine and how she told him that having children was important to her, even though he had reservations.
“She knew my biggest concern was that I felt like I could be remarried and divorced, but one thing was that I couldn’t be remarried and divorced with kids,” he said in court. He later changed his mind: “It was important to her and it became important to me.”
Kevin, a decade before he married Christine with a prenuptial agreement, reportedly paid his ex-wife Cindy Silva about $80 million in his first divorce. She shares three children with Silva (Annie, Lily and Joe) plus a son Liam with ex Bridget Rooney.
As their divorce battle continues, Kevin and Christine will appear in court later this fall to clarify the validity of their prenuptial agreement.
