Kevin Harlan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 21, 1960. Kevin Harlan was born to father Bob Harlan, former manager of the Green Bay Packers, and mother Madeline Harlan. He grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, with two siblings: Bryan Harlan and Linda Harlan.
Kevin was born in the United States, although his nationality is unclear. He went to Our Lady of Premontre High School and developed an interest in radio. He then began working for WGBP, a high school radio station, calling play-by-play for several sports teams, including basketball, ice hockey and football. He then attended the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Kansas, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1982.

Career
In 1982, he began his career as the TV and radio voice of the NBA’s Kansas City Kings. During his undergraduate years, he showed an interest in anchoring and even worked as a basketball commentator during his graduate studies. He worked at ESPN from 1992 to 1993 before joining the FOX network in 1994. He also worked as an NFL play-by-play announcer from 1994 to 1997.
He worked as an announcer for Turner Sports and followed NBA playoff games. He eventually joined CBS in 1998 to serve as a play-by-play broadcaster. In the same year, Kevin Harlan was appointed basketball commentator for the Goodwill Games. At WBBM-TV, he covered multiple Bowl games, preseason games for the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars and many other teams.
He began working as the lead play-by-play announcer for Westwood One Radio’s “Monday Night Football” in 2009, covering Super Bowl XLV. Since 2006, in addition to their journalistic career, he has participated in the NBA video game series “2K” with his voice. The Acclaim Sports video game “NFL QB Club 2002” used his voice.
