Kim Cattrall bravely shared her grieving experience in an emotional speech about the tragic loss of her family. As she prepares to return to Sex and the City, the heartbreaking reality of these personal tragedies becomes even more poignant.
In a candid conversation with The Sunday Times, the 66-year-old opened up about the “sudden and unexpected” death of her brother, Chris Cattrall, in 2018.
Kim’s relationship with her two sisters living in Canada, is the foundation for her thoughts on her family’s losses over the past decade. Her mother, Shane Cattrall, passed away in December 2022, as she announced on Instagram. Back in 2012, she shared the news of the death of her father, Dennis Cattrall, via Twitter.
The way Kim faced her brother’s death was very different. She revealed: “For my mother, she was 93 years old and it was a slow decline. “But brother, this is beyond the law of nature. This shouldn’t have happened.”

She revealed more raw emotions surrounding her brother’s untimely death. “You remember where you were, what happened, what was said. Everything is accessible, at all times, a weight that is always with you and never leaves.”
Chris Cattrall went missing five days before his death was confirmed, sparking a frantic search in his hometown of Alberta, Canada. During this difficult time, Kim took to social media, sharing photos of himself and asking fans for help in finding him. She called the period of constant police search “an extraordinary few days” during which everything in her was on “high alert because he could be saved”.
