Gypsy was charged with murdering her mother, Dee Dee, in June 2015. Her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, was also charged with murder at the time.

After her arrest, it was revealed that Dee Dee had subjected Gypsy to unnecessary medical treatments and convinced her daughter and others that her daughter had suffered from a number of illnesses as a child. It was claimed in court that Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a form of child abuse that involves the caregiver exaggerating or inducing illness to gain sympathy.

We had a lot to talk about in terms of prison reform. I know she’s done some really amazing things with prison reform. And it’s very close to my heart because I was on that side of the fence.”

Gypsy also noticed that the two had a lot to talk about and was blown away by how nice Kim was.

“It really opened my eyes because you read the headlines, you think you have a sense of who someone is,” she explained of the reality star. “But when I met her, I was like, ‘Wow, she’s so down-to-earth’. And I didn’t expect that.”
