There are ladies from LSU who are famous designers and high school grads who send me jackets and say… Mulkey said, “Coach, I’ll be honest, I don’t know anything about basketball, but I’m just here to see what you’re going to wear.” Hey, you know what, I want people who go to games for this reason to continue to do so, and I want them to become familiar with basketball.
“People who come to basketball should ignore what I wear on the sidelines and focus on the merchandise on the court. Don’t let what I wear overshadow what happens on that field or my X’s and O’s as a coach,” she said. “But if I put on coats and other gear benefits them and sells another ticket or brings more attention to our game, then so be it.
Mulkey was able to talk about his entire character while answering a question about his outrageous game day outfit. She is a Hall of Famer and the first person to win national championships as both a player and a coach. She has three championships under her belt as a coach, and this week she joined Gary Blair and C. Vivian Stringer as the only players to have led multiple teams to the Final Four.
