King Charles and Queen Camilla lead the way in wishing Kate Middleton a happy birthday.
The Princess of Wales turned 43 on Thursday, January 9, and the King, 76, and Queen, 77, were among the first to send their wishes, sharing a picture of Kate in green as she joined them on the royal family’s traditional outing to Mary Magdalene in Sandringham on Christmas Day .
British royals have celebrated Christmas at their private home in Norfolk for generations, and fans were delighted to see the tradition continue after a difficult year in which Charles and Kate were both diagnosed with cancer.
“Happy birthday to the Princess of Wales,” reads the description of the image on Instagram Stories, the official page of the royal family.

King Charles reflects on family health problems and ‘insecurities and anxieties of illness’ in emotional Christmas speech
Buckingham Palace released news of the king’s health in February 2024, and Princess Kate announced she was undergoing cancer treatment that March.
In keeping with the palace’s tight-lipped approach to medical conditions, the two types of cancer remain unknown to the public. However, the Princess of Wales said on September 9 that she had finished chemotherapy, and palace sources said on December 20 that the king’s treatment would continue this year.
“His treatment is going in a positive direction and as the condition is under control, the cycle of treatment will continue next year,” sources said before Christmas. The King also plans to travel abroad and around the UK in the coming year, filling his schedule similarly to late 2024.

After the holidays, Princess Kate didn’t set any expectations about what her calendar might look like. In a September video message she released to announce she had finished chemotherapy, the royal said she was focused on “doing everything I can to stay cancer free” but was looking forward to taking on “a few more public engagements in the coming months when I’m could.”
The Princess of Wales did just that as she joined the royal family at Remembrance events in November, hosting her fourth annual Together at Christmas Christmas service on December 6th and then out again on Christmas Day at Sandringham.
“You can’t say she’s back … but she’s coming back,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith previously told PEOPLE. “She does it in her own way and at her own pace, and carefully.”
