King Charles ‘Frustrated’ amid Cancer Treatment and ‘Pushing’ to Work More, Says Nephew Peter Phillips

King Charles is keen to return to work following his cancer diagnosis, according to his nephew Peter Phillips.

Phillips, 46, shared updates on the monarch’s recovery during an interview with Sky News Australia The Royal Report, insisting that the king, 75, is in “good spirits” despite being “frustrated” by the amount he can do at the moment.

Phillips, who is the son of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips, told host Caroline Di Russo: “I think ultimately he is very frustrated. He’s frustrated that he can’t go on and do everything he wants.”

“But he is very pragmatic [and] he understands that there is a period where he really needs to focus on himself,” added the royal, who is in Australia as a patron of the ISPS Handa charity.

King Charles’ cancer was ‘caught early’, British PM says

“He’s always trying, his staff and everybody, his doctors and nurses, to be able to say, ‘Actually, can I do this? Can I do that?’ Phillips continued about his uncle. “So the main message would be that he clearly wants very much to return to some form of normalcy.”

“And he’s probably frustrated because the recovery is taking a little longer than he probably would like,” Phillips said.

King Charles’ cancer diagnosis was revealed by Buckingham Palace on February 5. The statement came shortly after Charles was admitted to a London clinic on January 26 for treatment for an enlarged prostate. His type of cancer has not been revealed.

Kate Middleton had private lunch with King Charles before cancer announcement: They have a ‘very good relationship’

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Charles and Queen Camilla were preparing for a possible visit to Australia later this year despite his recent diagnosis.

Phillips shared what he thinks Charles and Camilla, 76, would like to achieve on their first official visit to the country as king and queen: “They would obviously like to see as many people as possible.”

“You know, they’re very eager and very active to be able to, you know, be seen and meet as many people as possible from all walks of life,” Phillips continued. “And that’s, you know, that’s what [they] kind of make it a goal to be seen to be, you know, accessible to as many people as possible.”
