The tragic incident took place on the Eyre Highway in Lincoln Gap, claiming the life of a 31-year-old man from Ceduna. A man identified as Kingsley Betts was killed Tuesday morning in a head-on collision involving his Lexus and a truck on a curve. The tragedy turned out to be a tragic highway collision, leaving the Ceduna community deeply saddened. A tragic accident on the Eyre Highway in South Australia, near Port Augusta, claimed the life of 31-year-old Kingsley Betts from Ceduna. At a bend along the Eyre Peninsula, Betts’ Lexus SUV collided with a lorry in front, causing the horrific incident which happened early on Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at Lincoln Gap, located approximately 27 kilometers west of Port Augusta, after receiving a call just after 2am on Tuesday. Betts, the sole occupant of the Lexus, unfortunately died at the scene despite the quick response. The lorry driver Quorn, 60, was also seriously injured in the crash. Despite receiving basic care at a nearby hospital, there are rumors that the severity of his wounds will require evacuation to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for further medical care. A section of the Eyre Freeway between Press Road and Caroona Road was closed for more than 12 hours after the crash.

Due to the traffic jams, the movement of cars and road trains along this key freight route is difficult. Traffic was diverted via Caroona Road and detours were put in place as authorities made a concerted effort to control the situation. Because of Betts’ untimely death, there have been 109 deaths on South Australian roads so far this year.
