News Kristen Welker
Chuck Todd said Sunday, June 5, that he is stepping down as host of NBC’s popular “Meet the Press” show. Todd noted in closing remarks: “When I took over ‘Meet the Press,’ it was a Sunday show that many people questioned if it still had a place in the modern media landscape… I think we’ve answered that question enough.
In September 2014, Chuck Todd took over as host of “Meet the Press” and hosted the show during two presidential elections. In a post published Sunday, Todd stressed the need for media executives “not to stay too long,” saying: “I’d rather leave too soon than stay too long.” Furthermore, he revealed that it was a significant period in his personal life.
Today we end our program with an announcement of @chucktodd:”Although today is not my last show, this will be my last summer here at Meet the Press… I am very proud of what this team and I have built over the last decade.” pic.twitter.com/sgeUcNR3C5

Chuck Todd collaborator Krsite Welker will replace him on the NBC show. It’s important to know that Welker joined NBC in 2010. Welker was also Todd’s co-anchor for election nights in early 2021. NBC News Senior Vice President of Editorial Rebecca Bluemenstein and NBC News Senior Editor Chuck Todd released a note regarding Chuck Todd’s resignation.
Chuck Todd will no longer host “Meet the Press,” but will continue to work for NBC in his new role as chief political commentator. He will now focus on long-form journalism while continuing to produce “Chuck Toddcast” and “Meet the Press Reports,” according to the NBC letter. In September of this year, Welker will replace Todd as the show’s host.
