Kristin Chenoweth Reacts to Ariana Grande’s Comment That Glinda from Wicked ‘Might Be a Little in the Closet’

Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda in Wicked on Broadway in 2003, reacted to Ariana Grande’s recent comment that Glinda is in the new one Wicked the movie “maybe a little in the closet.”

While I was talking to the UK outlet Gay Times for a video interview published on Friday, November 21, Grande and Wicked Costar Cynthia Erivo shared her thoughts on their characters’ sexuality.

“I think Elphie goes wherever the wind blows,” Erivo, 37, said of her character Elphaba. “I think she loves Glinda. I think she loves love. And I think there’s nothing wrong with celebrating the deep connection they both have,” adding that their characters have an “unbreakable bond.”

“And trust and truth,” chimed in Grande, 31. “Just a safe space for each other, which is what all relationships should be, whether they’re romantic or platonic.” The pop star said at the time: “Glinda might be in the closet for a bit. You never know!”

Chenoweth, 56, agreed: “I thought so too a long time ago when…” the actress commented in an Instagram post on Friday.
