In response to critics who disparaged appearances by the “Sex and the City” cast in the upcoming revival of the popular series, Kristin Davis has responded.
Critics have focused debate on the cast’s age and appearance ever since the set images of “And Just Like That…” first surfaced. Davis is just tired of it.
Kristin Davis says the criticism of the cast’s appearance on “SATC” came as a “shock.”
“Everyone wants to express their opinion, for or against, about our faces, hair and other aspects of ourselves. The Sunday Times quoted her as saying the level of intensity was shocking and that the paparazzi would try to take “bad photos” of celebrities while filming.
The revival focuses on how life has unfolded for the actress and her two co-stars, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon, as they negotiate relationships as elegant middle-aged women. All three are in their 50s. Many commentators have focused on Nixon’s gray hairs on the show or the scattered wrinkles they’ve noticed on the actors’ faces, rather than highlighting how each of the stars is handling aging beautifully.
Davis said in an interview with TODAY last week that she and Parker were experiencing a “media blackout” as a result of the critical comments. She also spoke about this in an interview with The Sunday Times, admitting that this negativity irritates her.
“I feel angry and I don’t want to be angry all the time, so I don’t look at it, I just know it’s there,” she said. The single mother of two recalled how tabloids described her as having a “pear-shaped” figure; she didn’t find it flattering at the time.

Davis stressed that she’s glad to be a part of the reboot because it exposes an age group that Hollywood often ignores, despite the criticism the ensemble received for their appearance.
“I feel like people have this feeling (when you get to middle age) that you’re done, done, with your world view, your friends and your relationships. “No no no!”
Although Willie Garson, who played Carrie’s best friend Stanford Blatch, died of cancer in September at the age of 57, Davis had a blast filming the revival, which was nonetheless heartbreaking. When he first saw him onstage, according to Davis, he didn’t know he was sick.
