Kuldeep Chahal is a 2009 batch IPS officer currently posted as SSP Mohali (SAS Nagar). Kuldeep is considered a fearless officer and is known for reducing crime rate and maintaining law and order wherever he is posted. He has led several encounters under his supervision and eliminated dreaded gangsters including Shera Khubban and Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Ankit Bhaddu.

Kuldeep Singh Chahal was born in 1981 (39 years old in 2020) in Ujjana village, Jind district, Haryana. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kurukshetra University. Thereafter, Kuldeep moved to Panchkula along with his elder brother Suresh Kumar to pursue his Masters in History from Punjab University while preparing for the government exams. In 2005, Kuldeep was recruited as an ASI in Chandigarh Police; however, the small town boy was not content with this achievement. His goal then shifted to secure a place in the Indian Police Service. After three years of intensive preparation, hard work, determination and a strategic approach, Kuldeep Chahal finally secured 82nd rank in the Civil Services Examination in his third attempt.

Family and caste
Kuldeep Singh Chahal comes from a farming family. His father Sadhu Ram is a farmer and his mother is a housewife. His elder brother Suresh Kumar is a lecturer in a government college in Panchkula.

In 2018, the Punjab State Women’s Commission chairperson accused Mohali state senior superintendent of police Kuldeep Chahal of disrespecting and abusing her when she called to inquire about the progress of a sexual harassment case in his jurisdiction. She submitted a written complaint against him to then Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Punjab Deputy Governor Singh Badnore and Chief Minister Amrinder Singh. 
Chahal’s humanitarian side
Apart from being an IPS officer, Kuldeep is often involved in social activities.
Kuldeep runs an NGO called Prayas Seva Samiti along with the people of his village. The NGO works towards improving the environment, keeping the surroundings clean, and promoting sports-related activities. As of 2019, Prayas Seva Samiti has planted 16,000 trees in the village.

- Kuldeep has always been a hard-working person and during his days in the village, Kuldeep used to help his father with daily farm work while also finding time for his father’s studies.

During his tenure as ASI in Manimajra police station, he even sacrificed rest and sleep after working day and night shifts to study. He used every minute of his time to read.
