Kunal Kamra is an Indian stand-up comedian and social media personality. He is known for his stand-up actions against patriotism and government in today’s India. Kamla hosts a podcast on YouTube called “Shut Up Ya Kunal.”

Kunal Kamra was born on 2 October 1988 in Mahim, Mumbai (36 years old as of 2024). His zodiac sign is Libra. He comes from a family with a business background. He completed his education from a secondary school in Mumbai and then went to Jai Hind College to pursue a degree in commerce. Kamla dropped out of college without informing her parents, leaving college midway. At the age of 17, he began interning with MTV’s in-house production team. A year later, Kunal joined Prasoon Pandey’s Corcoise Films as a production assistant. He worked there for six years, handling international shoots, creating commercials for popular brands and holding high-level meetings with representatives of large media organizations. In 2013, Kunal decided to explore something different to break up the monotony of work. It was then that his friend, comedian Siddharth Dudeja, introduced Kunal to stand-up comedy and suggested he give it a try. In 2013, his first professional show “Blue Frog” was lucky. He went to the venue to visit his friend Karunesh Talwar, who was the headliner of the event, and got a chance to perform on stage.

Kunal started his career as a stand-up comedian in 2013 by performing at Canvas Club in Mumbai. He won over the house with his perfect comedy punch. Later, he performed in various comedy shows and was appreciated by the audience. In 2017, Kunal launched a podcast called “Shut Up Ya Kunal” along with his friend Ramit Verma. The show features one or more public figures and is intended to create humor. The show featured prominent personalities such as BJP spokesperson Madhukeshwar Desai, Gujarat MLA and Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani and former JNU student leader Shehla Rashid. The series featuring Jinan University students was viewed approximately 1.1 million times within a few hours of its release.
In February 2018, Kamla performed a performance titled “Patriotism and the Government,” mocking the government’s need to respond to every criticism with nationalism. The punchline of the show “Siachen mein humaare jamaan lad rahe hain” went viral on social media.
Kunal has since collaborated with East India Comedy (EIC) to produce a comedy video titled ‘Kaun Banega Trollpati’, which satirizes right-wing social media trolls. In the video, Kamra, who plays the role of ‘Bhakt Launda’, is seen sitting in the hot seat opposite the show’s host The Real Amitji. The game show included questions like “In which year did Maharana Pratap defeat Akbar at the Battle of Haldighati?” The grand prize is a new Twitter follower. The video has been viewed more than 450,000 times.

- In 2017, he deleted his Twitter account over a controversial post expressing distaste for a particular religion.
- In January 2020, Kamra was banned from flying by various Indian airlines including IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet and GoAir for questioning Arnab Goswami during a flight.
- In October 2024, he made headlines for his Twitter spat with Ola Cabs CEO Bhavish Aggarwal. The feud started when Kamra shared a photo on Twitter in which a number of scooters were parked outside an Ola service station but could not be serviced. After selling Ola’s electric scooters to customers, he went on to raise questions about Ola’s service.
Responding to Kamla’s attack on his career as a comedian, Bhavesh called him a “failed comedian”. He also asked Kamla to work for him at Ola petrol station and pay him. He went on to accuse Kunal of gaining fame by targeting Ola. He then asked Bhavish to improve its after-sales service and repair and maintain customers’ scooters.
