Renowned writer-director Jyoti Kapoor has accused Kunal Kohli of shamelessly plagiarizing the script of her film Phir Se. The allegation is significant as Kohli has been embroiled in copyright infringement controversies as both a director and screenwriter. Nonetheless, Kohli tried to justify himself by mentioning his collaborations with fellow writers Renuka Kunzru and Shibani Bathija without any issues. However, the Supreme Court, the highest judicial body, supported her claim by recognizing similarities between Kapoor’s script and the plot of “Phir Se”. The Supreme Court ruled that Kunal Kohli must pay compensation of Rs 25 lakh and noted the story of the film. After an eight-month legal battle, the entire issue was resolved.
