Danish started his political career with the BJP and rose to the rank of general secretary of the All India Party. In 2002, he contested the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Garmukteshwar constituency but failed. In 2018, he played an important role in forming the Congress-BJP coalition government in Karnataka. He also played a key role in forging a pre-election alliance between the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party and the Janata Dal(S).
