Kyle Cooke Says Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard Couldn’t Communicate ‘Without a Third Party’ Prior to Split

Kyle Cooke shares his two cents on what led to Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard’s broken engagement.

After weeks of rumors about the status of their relationship, Radke officially called off the wedding on September 11 by writing a letter to family and friends explaining the decision.

“It’s no secret that they’ve been in constant couples therapy since they actually started dating,” Cooke, 41, told E! News on Tuesday Winter house season 3 premiere party. “From my perspective, there were times when I was like, ‘Man, almost the only time they could interact in a given week was in therapy.’

Although he noted that the former couple sought help from both their individual therapists and a couple’s counselor, their inability to face their issues head-on eventually led to their split.

“It was almost like they couldn’t even communicate anymore without a third party,” Cooke added. “And Carl said, ‘I’m not going to spend the next 50 years of my life like that.’

In his letter to family and friends, which he shared with PEOPLE, Radke announced the news and apologized for any confusion or inconvenience to their loved ones.

“Words cannot describe how difficult the last two weeks have been for Lindsay and I,” he wrote. “We are incredibly sorry to all of our guests for the confusion and lack of communication. We are left trying to figure out exactly how this all happened before we could even have a chance to determine a way forward between us.”

“There have been a lot of false stories and misunderstandings that have made this even more painful, but unfortunately we are not going ahead with the wedding at this time,” continued Radke, 38. “The fact is Lindsay is devastated and I’m devastated by how this all happened. Kindly I am asking for some patience and grace for me to heal and recover as we go through this extremely difficult time.”

Shortly after news of their split broke, Hubbard, 37, shared a statement on Instagram thanking her followers for giving her the time and space to “grieve the loss of not only my relationship, but my friendship with someone I I considered myself my best friend for 8 years.”

“The last 2 weeks have been the most heartbreaking and emotional weeks of my life,” Hubbard wrote. “My whole life and future had been ripped out from under me and it was hard for me to make sense of it all – with no answers or conclusion as to why. I feel humiliated by how this happened and at the same time heartbroken that it happened in the first place. My trust was betrayed and it was hard for me to come to terms with that.”

No date announced for Summer house season 8, but the first seven seasons can be streamed on Peacock. Winter house airs Tuesdays at 9pm ET on Bravo.
