Kyle Fugid founded his YouTube channel NELK in Mississauga, Canada in 2010 with his former partners Niko Martinovich, Marko Martinovich and Lucas Gasparini. At first, Kyle often uploaded skits and funny videos on his channel, but then Jesse Sebastiani joined NELK and together they turned it into a prank website. On April 13, 2013, Kyle uploaded his first YouTube video “McDonald’s Interview Prank”.
In a YouTube video, Kyle talks about the beginning of his YouTube career.
Jesse and I both come from a filmmaking background, and I used to love directing videos, and I always knew how to edit. I’ve been making videos since I was a kid just for fun, like comedy videos and stuff like that. YouTube just came naturally… I was doing it just for fun, and then I started getting followers… It’s been really inspiring to keep doing it.”
Since then, they have uploaded various videos on their YouTube channel such as “Stealing Footballs from Real Games Prank” (2013), “Involve Strangers in Drug Deal Prank” (2014), “Shark Attack Prank!!!” (2014), etc. In 2014, Kyle uploaded a YouTube video in which he pranked his mother by hosting a fake family party, which his mother strictly prohibited.
In 2015, NELK gained popularity with its “Coca-Cola Prank Cop” video. In the video, the NELK boys filmed themselves telling LAPD officers that they had Coke in the trunk of their car, leading the officers to believe they were illegally selling cocaine. Later, during the investigation, the officers realized that the boys were actually referring to Coca-Cola, not cocaine. The video went viral on the Internet and has been viewed more than 41 million times on YouTube.
Subsequently, in 2017, NELK Boys launched their lifestyle brand “Full Send”, a merchandise website. In January 2018, NELK received the YouTube Gold Button Award for reaching 1 million subscribers.
Due to the explicit and pornographic nature of the video content, in August 2020, NELK created its own online portal “Send Club”, a paid subscription service where members can play uncensored videos that were rejected by YouTube due to its age restriction policy.
