Kyle Richards leads with resilience after his public split from Mauricio Umansky.
“When I feel good and my hair looks good, I feel indomitable,” she says The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 54, tells PEOPLE at Bravocon 2023 while promoting her Nexxus Unbreakable Care partnership. “And passing through… [what] Now I’m passing, for me right now it’s all about being strong and feeling physically, mentally, spiritually. So I do everything in my power to be indomitable.”
Part of her intention to build strength involves lifestyle choices, which sometimes provoke her reaction RHOBH cast members. “The cast really warmed to me in the beginning,” says Richards. “‘You don’t drink’ and ‘You work out every day’ and ‘Will you work out, even in Vegas?’ I say, ‘I have to do everything I can to feel the strongest and happiest I can right now.'”

And it seems to be working.
“I don’t feel my age at all,” she says. “I feel better than I’ve ever felt in my life, which I never imagined. I heard people say, ‘Oh, you’re going to love your 40s,’ when I was in my 30s, and I said, ‘Mm. Whatever . . . I do not know.’ I don’t remember people saying [anything] around my 50s, but I’ve learned what suits me and I’m more comfortable in my own skin.”
“I have more confidence now,” she adds.

Richards and Umansky, 53, married in January 1996. The couple, who first met in a nightclub in 1994, have daughters Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15, as well as Farrah Brittany (née Aldjufrie ), 34, from Kyle’s first marriage to the former Guraisha Aldjufrie.
Richards and Umansky’s divorce was announced in July when a source confirmed to PEOPLE that they “have been separated for some time, but are still living under the same roof. They remain amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family.”
The couple initially denied they were divorcing, saying they had had a “tough year” in a joint statement posted on Instagram.

The split was just starting to show on screen, when Richards revealed her marital changes with co-star Dorit Kemsley. “I feel like I need some freedom – freedom and some space,” he said Halloween is ending said the star when asked about Umanski’s limited presence.
Umanski — which appears on Buying Beverly Hills — is currently competing at Dancing with the stars with partner Emma Slater. The pair were photographed holding hands offstage, although they denied any suggestion of a romance. “We’re not dating,” Umansky said in an Instagram Story video. “We are really good friends. We’ve been dancing together for six weeks, four hours a day, every day.”
