Kyle Richards Shuts Down 'Idiots' Who Think She's Faking Marital Issues: 'I'm Not Looking to Be More Relevant'

“I’m going to pretend I’m separated and torture my kids to get people involved? I mean, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,” the ‘RHOBH’ star said

Kyle Richards sets the record straight once and for all.

During the performance at the newly launched Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, hosted by network CEO Alex Baskin, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was asked about her thoughts on the claim that she is “making up” problems in her marriage to Mauricio Umansky for “relevance”.

“What human being would create a story like this? No offense, Alex. I love you and everything about the show. But who would do that for ratings? Let their family go through this,” Richards, 53, said. “That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve possibly ever heard in 13 years. I’m going to pretend I’m detached and torture my kids to get people involved? I mean, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”

Kyle Richards broke down while discussing the split RHOBH BravoCon panel: ‘This is not my fairy tale’

Reiterating that he has been on the show for 13 years, Halloween is ending the star said it all comes back to people’s “delusion”.

“I care about being relevant to my friends and family. Yes, I’m on television, but I’m fine,” she explained. “I don’t want to be more relevant. I’m fine. And I would never put my family through this, ever, because… I almost said it was a stupid TV show, sorry!”

Seeing such speculation is both “so embarrassing” and “so frustrating” for Richards, who said the fabricated allegations “couldn’t be any different from who I am.”

“I also hear a lot of things online that, you know, ‘Oh, well, Kyle and Mauricio, they have an open marriage,'” she recalled.

“Things that say, ‘Kyle is only with him for the money.’ He had no money when I married him, you idiots!” she added. “He had no money! ‘Oh, she’s just staying there and putting up with all this so she can keep spending his money.’ First of all, it’s our money that he didn’t have before”.

Kyle Richards and Maurici Umansky relationship timeline

PEOPLE confirmed Richards’ split from Umansky, 53, in July. At the time, a source said the longtime couple — who married in 1996 — “have been separated for some time, but still living under the same roof. They’re still friendly as they figure out what’s next for them and their family.”

Richards and Umansky later addressed the news, clarifying that “any claims regarding our divorce are untrue.” However, they noted that they “had a difficult year”, calling it “the most challenging for our marriage”.
