Lady Amelia Windsor is short for summer!
The Duke of Kent’s granddaughter and second cousin once removed to King Charles debuted her new hairstyle on Instagram on May 30. Lady Amelia, 28, teased her new style by sharing a snap showing a pile of blonde hair on the floor with emoji eyes before taking a selfie video in the mirror while blow-drying, showing off her new hair with a beard.
Amelia, who is currently 43rd in line to the British throne, then posted a video of herself checking her gaze in the mirror, smiling as she shook her head.

Although Lady Amelia has experimented with different hair lengths over the years, including shoulder-length locks, her latest style might be the shortest cut she’s experimented with yet. She wore her hair down to the middle of her back at the Chelsea Garden Show earlier this month, where she teamed up with Kent Wildflower Seeds to create the display.
Amelia tagged hairdresser Frankie in her photos along with George Northwood, owner of a salon in Fitzrovia, central London.

Northwood worked closely with Meghan Markle during her time in the UK, including being the stylist behind her evening wedding hair in 2018. After she exchanged vows with Prince Harry at St. George at Windsor Castle, the newlywed Duchess of Sussex changed into a different dress and freshened up her hair in a bun with loose, face-framing pieces for a night out.
Northwood has also traveled as part of Meghan’s glam squad on royal tours, including the couple’s 2018 trip to Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji, as well as their visit to Ireland in the same year.
“George is very likable, very cool and his signature look, which is a little messy and a little messy, is perfect for her,” a source who worked with Northwood told PEOPLE at the time.

Northwood had previously revealed to the British Vogue that he met Meghan in February 2018 and they hit it off quickly despite his initial nerves.
“I was a little excited before that, and then as soon as I met her, she was like my California clients,” Northwood told the outlet in 2020. “She said, ‘I’m a Cali girl,’ and I just said, ‘ Then one of my favorites’. We hit it off — we spoke the same language right away.”
The hairdresser said he designed the look for Meghan based on the royal duties she had on the day and trying to bring in a bit of that “California girl” touch.
“The way she approaches things is the way an ordinary woman would approach things – she has a real sense of style and she wanted to look accessible, even though she was a princess,” he said. “She was a very modern princess, the kind of princess that we can relate to and aspire to, and the hair just fell for it.”
