On December 26, 2023, she committed suicide after celebrating Christmas with her family at the age of 47. According to reports, she was found unconscious at her residence in Belvedere Park, North Point, and was suspected of committing suicide by burning charcoal. Her son found her unconscious and reported the incident to the police at around 1:12 p.m. Jimmy Lai was pronounced dead after being taken to Ruttonjee Hospital in Hong Kong. No suicide note was found in her residence, and the specific cause of death has not yet been determined, pending an autopsy. Her death was confirmed by her first husband, actor and martial artist Kenneth Low, also known as Ken Lo.
