Lamont Marcell Jacobs was born on September 26, 1994. He is of Italian descent. He is of mixed origin and practices Christianity. Moreover, he was born in the United States to an Italian mother and an African American father. Lamont Marcell Jacobs Sr., whose father was a soldier, met his mother, Viviana Masini, while stationed in Italy. They married and eventually moved to Texas, where he was born. Career
Jacobs began competing in sports at the age of ten. At first he liked sprinting, but in 2011 he tried long jump. He won the Italian Athletics Long Jump Championships in 2016. Similarly, he finished the 2017 indoor season ranked 10th at the IAAF (now World Athletics). His personal record is 8.07 m. At the Mediterranean U23 Championship in 2016, he jumped 7.95 meters. At the Italian U23 Championship in 2016, he jumped 8.48 meters.
However, due to a tailwind of 2.8 m/s, his achievement was not recognized as a national record.
He holds the national record in the 4*100ms with a time of 38.11, together with Federico Cattane, Davide Manetti and Filippo Tortuo. In October 2019, they broke the national record in Doha. He is the owner of the national record at 60 ms with a time of 6.47, which he set in Torun in March 2021.
In May 2021, he set the Italian record for 100 ms with a time of 9.95. He won his fourth national title after winning the Italian championship in 2021 with a time of 10.1. Moreover, he previously won it three times, in 2018, 2019 and 2020. As an Italian representative, he qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. With a time of 9.80 seconds, he won the gold medal in the men’s 100 meters. He already broke the European limit in the semi-finals with a time of 9.84.
