Lance Bass Says He 'Never Liked' Diddy After Overhearing Him Urge Justin Timberlake to Leave *NSYNC

Lance Bass adds to the list of celebrities who have come forward about their experience with Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In the episode of September 25 Watch what’s happening live, Bass told host Andy Cohen about his experience touring with the disgraced music mogul in 2002. Combs supported the popular boy band on their final A celebrity tour, which also included support from Ginuwine and Smash Mouth.

“I never had time to go to a Diddy party,” Bass said of the infamous and extravagant gatherings Combs has become known for. In official court documents, these parties were referred to as “Freak-Offs”.

Bass’s feelings toward Combs grew stronger after he claimed he overheard the Bad Boy executive calling for Justin Timberlake to quit the group.

“It’s kind of horrible, but I never liked him because at the last show in Orlando, I overheard him talking to Justin and saying, ‘You’ve got to ditch this stuff!’ You gotta go solo!'” After the tour ended, Timberlake would release his debut solo album, Justifiedin November 2002

Bass was offended by the suggestion, telling Cohen, “I was like, ‘I don’t like you anymore, Diddy.’ I ask myself: ‘At my own performance?'”

Shortly before New York’s Adult Survivors Act expired in November 2023, Combs’ ex-girlfriend Cassie filed a lawsuit alleging years of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, which she settled shortly after. Since then, Combs has been hit with a series of accusations and lawsuits, most recently by Thalia Graves.

Graves states that in 2001, the then 25-year-old woman was raped by Combs and his bodyguard Joseph Sherman at the Bad Boys studio. She also alleges that the attack was filmed, causing her emotional distress and feeling “worthless and isolated”.

Combs was arrested on Monday, September 16 at a Manhattan hotel. A 14-page indictment obtained by PEOPLE was unsealed the next day in federal court, charging the executive with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation for prostitution.

Prosecutors described the “freaks” as “elaborate and manufactured sexual performances” that Combs would record, often without the victims’ consent. To ensure compliance, victims were often given medication. Combs would then give them IV fluids to help them recover.

“He will fight this with all his energy and all his strength and with the full confidence of his attorneys and I expect a long battle with a good result for Mr. Combs,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said outside court on Sept. 17. .

Combs is scheduled to appear in court in early October. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
