LaTanya Richardson Jackson (née Richardson; born October 21, 1949) is an American actress. She began her career in off-stage shows before moving into television and film roles.

She was born in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. In 1970, she met actor Samuel L. Jackson, then a student at Morehouse’s all-boys school, while attending Atlanta’s Spelman College (America’s oldest private liberal arts school for girls).
Career
By far, Richardson’s most notable cinematic performance was as the main antagonist, the hypercritical Pauline Pritchett, in the 2003 musical The Fighting Temptations.
Richardson was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play in 2014 for her work in A Raisin in the Sun. This is her second Broadway performance, following her debut in the 2009 Joe Turner production of Come and Gone. During the 2018–19 season, she also appeared on Broadway in Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird.
She and her husband acted in four films: “Juice” (1992), “Losing Isaiah” (1995), “Freedomland” (2006) and “Mother and Child” (2008). (2009).
In September 2022, Richardson Jackson made her Broadway debut, directing her husband Samuel in August Wilson’s play The Piano Lesson at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
