Laura Dern Just Dug Out the Sophisticated Dress Style Gwyneth Paltrow Wore Last Month

One outfit I’m hoping makes its way from just a picture on my Pinterest board to an IRL iteration is Laura Dern’s Barbiecore-meets-boho look. It’s September 30th Big little lies the actress wore a black midi shirt that looked a lot like Meghan Markle’s Invictus Games choice with a fall-friendly turtleneck that made her outfit more colorful (and toasty).

She also pulled out a pair of cowboy boots — a shoe trend I still don’t expect to see even though Katie Holmes and other stars have been spotted in them — and a chunky belt to tie the outfit together.

I’m normally a pants person, but lately I’ve been having a hard time finding a pair that meets all my criteria. And maybe it’s because I need a dress instead. I can’t stand it when things are too tight around my midsection, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem with this style. “The sleeves are hemmed, not elastic, which allows for a comfortable fit without constriction,” added one customer.

Besides, if Gwyneth Paltrow can wear a shirt on a trip, I sure can only wear one for lounging.

I used to think turtlenecks were tight sweat cages that looked as rough as they felt, but now I’m happy when I put them on. They are incredibly warm, sophisticated and elegant. When I wear them, I always think of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s style. Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Aniston also opted for tops with a high neckline.

I try to limit the number of boots I buy, which means cowboy boots have been on the back burner for a while now. This pair, which one customer wore “for more than 6 hours [of] standing and dancing” and “I didn’t even feel them”, could be them. They come in sizes 5 to 11 and are also “wide calf approved,” according to another reviewer.
