When it comes to making decisions, Laura Dern appreciates Reese Witherspoon’s advice above all else!
While speaking during a panel at the second Hello Sunshine Shine Away event in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 5, the Oscar winner, 57, was asked about how the networks she’s cultivated throughout her career have influenced her decision-making. She revealed that perhaps the most important person in her network is Witherspoon.
After nodding to her Hollywood upbringing — thanks to parents Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd — Jurassic Park star said that “what I’ve learned from the four or five women who raised me, who were actresses, who went on to become writers, producers or directors, is that there is no community, no interior without each other.”
“And that sisterhood brought them,” she continued. “Jane Fonda is one, along with my mother and an amazing group of women who decided they had to be storytellers to be in the story at all, and they’re the real pioneers who made us realize that.”
“So I felt so lucky to have that lens and then to find a sisterhood on this stage — and actually run it all with Reese,” she admitted. “From my romantic life to the jobs I should be doing.”

Before she could continue, Witherspoon, 48, who was on the panel alongside Octavia Spencer, interrupted Dern to reveal that they had teamed up for a less career-focused project just days earlier.
“We had a barbecue last week,” he said Legal blonde the star said, while Dern added, “We did. It was amazing.”
Big little lies Costars Dern and Witherspoon have long been open about their close friendship, which has been evident in the pair attending events in identical outfits — and T-shirts with each other’s faces.

Earlier this year, the couple made headlines for their on-again-off-again friendship Big little lies Co-star Nicole Kidman questioned why Witherspoon calls Dern by her last name.
During the conversation with Vanity Fair in June, Witherspoon began telling the story of a phone conversation she had with Dern on their hit drama series when Kidman quickly interjected, saying, “I hate when you call her Dern, though!”
And, after Witherspoon asked “Why?” Kidman, 57, revealed her reasoning: “because it sounds weird.”
“You know why?” he explained Sweet Home Alabama star, whose full name is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon. “Because my name is Laura and her name is Laura, and it confuses me.”
“Oh!” Kidman replied. “That’s right.”
