Laura Dern’s Airy White Dress Is the Deceptively Simple Staple Every Closet Needs for Summer — Get Her Look from $55

In a plain white dress and flat shoes, I can tell that Laura Dern didn’t dress to steal attention from Carol Burnett at the ceremony that cemented the comic into Hollywood history, but I can’t get the deceptively simple style she wore to mind from her look — so I started looking for something similar.

One element I love about Dern’s dress is the three-quarter length sleeves, which are billowy enough to be airy and comfortable in the summer heat, while also protecting against shoulder burns. I also love the maxi length and full skirt for the same reason: they offer airflow and coverage in equal measure. And the shirt’s timeless style makes it casual enough for a trip to the store, but easy to dress up with the right accessories – a true wardrobe workhorse.
