Lauren Sánchez shares a cute photo series featuring her hometown!
The former Emmy-winning news anchor posted a carousel on Instagram on Tuesday, September 17, of a stop on her book tour for her new children’s book, The fly that flew. But her recent appearance was especially sentimental as she visited her hometown of Albuquerque, NM
In Sánchez’s post, she took a peek inside her childhood home with her father as the two smiled hand-in-hand outside their New Mexico home.
In the next photo, Sánchez, 54, pointed to one of her school yearbook portraits – along with other classmates. In the description on Instagram, she revealed that one of her teachers arrived for the promotion and brought a yearbook.
A snapshot of Sánchez’s school days shows that her name is Wendy. Lauren is the philanthropist’s middle name, PEOPLE confirms.

Sánchez’s new book follows a fly named Flynn who isn’t the best at school but is still curious about life. During one of his adventures, he accidentally gets trapped in the cockpit of a rocket flying into space.
As Flynn’s unexpected venture turns out to be more than she could have ever hoped for, she learns about space, Earth, and why it’s important to protect it.

Sánchez previously told PEOPLE how her life experiences inspired the book.
“I was flying with my children and somehow a fly got into the cockpit of the plane. My children said, ‘Oh no, this poor little fly has been separated from its family!’ And I said, ‘I don’t know, she can see the world from a completely different perspective,'” Sánchez recalled.
“So that sparked this fun story in my mind, that even the littlest among us can have amazing adventures,” she added.
The fly that flew into space is now available in bookstores and online.
