Speaking to PEOPLE earlier this year, Messer talked about soaking up the pure “joy” she gets from watching her three girls “grow and blossom.”

“My greatest joy is just laughing together, seeing the foundation I’ve laid for them come to fruition and seeing everything I’ve learned implemented into what I’ve built,” she shared.

“These girls are becoming everything I wanted them to be, but more than that, everything they want to be, using these tools. They are the best, even better version of me.”

In June, the reality star spoke with Teen Vogue about breaking through her family’s generational trauma. While discussing what she would tell her younger self, Messer revealed that she would have taught her teenage daughter more about sex education.

Although she can’t go back in time, she said she can teach her daughters. “No shame or guilt,” she said, noting that she regularly talks to her children about safe sex. “Just an open conversation. I answer their question honestly.”

According to a BioMed Central Pregnancy and Childbirth study, teenage pregnancy can be related to many factors, including a family history of teenage pregnancy. Messer, her mother and her grandmother all had teenage pregnancies, but Messer doesn’t think that pattern will continue with her daughters.

“Little things like booking their first gynecologist appointments together next year and being open about them… I think that will be enough to break the cycle,” the reality star said. “I love them regardless of their journey, but I want more for them and I always will.”
