Legendary Wheel of Fortune presenter Chuck Woolery dies aged 83 after TV star ‘fell suddenly ill’ at his Texas home

LEGENDARY Wheel of Fortune and dating game host Chuck Woolery has died aged 83.

The TV personality died on Saturday at his home in Texas after suddenly falling ill.

Chuck’s longtime friend and podcast co-host Mark Young confirmed the news.

Taking to social media platform X (formally Twitter), Mark wrote: “It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother has just passed away.

“Life won’t be the same without him, RIP bro.”

The circumstances of Chuck’s death have not been confirmed.

However, Mark visited Chuck at home, telling TMZ that Chuck was not feeling well and had gone to bed.

Chuck later returned to the room to tell him he was having trouble breathing and Mark called 911, but Chuck never arrived.

Chuck is best known for being the original host of Wheel of Fortune between 1975 and 1982.

He went on to host the love show Love Connection between 1983 and 1994.

Chuck also hosted game shows such as Scrabble, Greed and Lingo.

Born in Ashland, Kentucky on March 16, 1941, Charles “Chuck” Herbert Woolery began his entertainment career as a musician.

He sang and played the double bass with the folk song trio Graničari.

He also sang in a duo called The Avant-Garde which was in the genre of psychedelic pop.

Chuck later turned to acting, appearing in the 1970s film The Treasure of Jamaica Reef.

He also appeared as Mr. Dingle in the children’s television series New Zoo Revue in the early 1970s.

Chuck is survived by his wife Kim and children, Katherine, Melissa, Michael and Sean.
