After years stuck in development LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga has finally arrived, and so have the memes. In fact, the memes have been steadily being produced for the past two years, ever since the release of the game kept getting pushed back. Fortunately for Star Wars and LEGO fans, the extra time just meant that even more content from the galaxy far, far away could be introduced into the game.
The epic open-world concept by TT Games places fans right in the middle of the action and already lends itself to hilarity with its massive database of playable characters, side quests, and more. As thousands gather to make the jump to hyperfun, it will be a “day long remembered” with these funny memes.
The Wait Is Over
Sometimes the wait for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga made fans feel like they were frozen in carbonite. After a total of three years (an eternity in the gaming industry) the game was finally ready, and while it was worth the wait it came at a cost.
While memes like this make light of the decrepit state of the fandom waiting for the game’s release, it should be noted that everyone involved with making it probably didn’t feel much better. As great as the game has been reviewed, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s acclaim has been at the expense of the committed developers who made a Bothan-like crunch effort to bring fans what they wanted.
If You’re An Old Fan On The Fence
There are fans out there who’ve been getting excited about LEGO Star Wars games since 2005, and in 2022 might be feeling some kind of way about embarking on the adventures of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. However, they’re still making that jump faster than the Falcon headed to Cloud City.
The franchise has been around for almost two decades, but that’s no reason to stop playing any of its titles right when the fun truly begins. As this meme suggests, be like Palpatine and just, “Dew It.” Even Old Ben got it together enough to go on an idealistic crusade in Episode IV, and with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, so can longtime fans.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Vs Elden Ring
While games like Elden Ring dominated Steam downloads for weeks, the arrival of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga toppled the best sellers, proving that the Force is strong with the fans of the series, who couldn’t wait to play the game they’d waited three years for.
TT aims for fans of all ages (and genders) to be able to get lost in its narrative, which promises to be the most expansive and complete look at the Star Wars Universe — whether it’s made out of bricks or not.
What About (Jedi) Bob?
Back in 2002, a mysterious Jedi Knight came with the LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship, and fans subsequently nicknamed him “Bob” with the minifigure gaining enough traction to finally get a mention in the LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary. So where is Jedi Bob now?
Several fans have been petitioning for Jedi Bob to appear in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, either as an NPC to interact with or as one of the dozens of playable characters they can use in the game.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Versus LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Just when fans thought they were getting everything out of a LEGO Star Wars game that they possibly could with LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, they were wooed by the promise of more characters, more side quests, and more hilarious jokes and throwback references than ever before.
With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga fans not only get all the best things about the Original Trilogy, but they also get the fun of the Prequel and Sequel Trilogies, the former of which is really a pastiche of the very best Prequel memes.
The High Ground
Star Wars – The Force Awakens has consistently been the best-received movie in the Sequel Trilogy despite fans feeling like it was a retread of the plot and themes of A New Hope, and its corresponding LEGO game was one of the best things to come out of it even if fans weren’t happy with its sequels.
That being said, since fans have gotten to replay Episode VII in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, it’s been praised as even better than the preceding game devoted entirely to its storyline. When a campaign within a game is better than an entire game devoted to it, it has the high ground.
No More Obi-Wan
Though LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is full of comedy, it also has its share of tragedy, and fans have to relive the horror of watching Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn valiantly give his life in the line of duty. Seeing Master Qui-Gon fight alongside his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi has inspired a sobering truth for some fans; Ewan McGregor’s time as the beloved character may be coming to an end.
As fans look forward to the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ they do so with the resignation that McGregor may never appear as Obi-Wan again, prompting this meme of Qui-Gon’s death scene as an existential crisis. The limited series has been something fans have wanted for years, especially since McGregor gave a career-defining performance as the famous Jedi, so it’s not surprising they’re using memes to assuage the bittersweet aspect of its release.
It’s Payback Time
In the years leading up to the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, fans wondered what characters would become playable on the happy day the game finally debuted. Many names were tossed around, including the directors of the Sequel Trilogy.
With their inclusion, fans would have been able to take out all their frustrations with their movies on their minifigurines, perhaps gaining a little catharsis in the process. This never came to pass, so memes (like this one featuring Rian Johnson, the director of Episode VIII) are the closest things fans will have.
Party Like A Bantha
Fans have an incredible amount of freedom in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga once they play through each trilogy, instantly unlocking an open world format that lets them return to levels they’ve played and explore them like never before. They can even spend time partying with a dancing bantha if they want to.
No doubt they’ll have fond memories of The Book of Boba Fett, in which the former bounty hunter teaches Tusken Raiders how to ride speeder bikes “like a bantha,” and even rides a few himself.
