Leona Lishoy was born on Friday, April 26, 1991, in Thrissur, Kerala, India (32 years old; as of 2023). She completed her schooling from Hari Sri Vidya Nidhi School in Thrissur, Kerala. Her family moved to Bangalore, India, and Leona completed her undergraduate degree at Christ University, Bangalore. She received her MBA diploma from Symbiosis University, Bangalore. After becoming an actress, Leona and her family returned to Thrissur, Kerala.

Leona’s father Lishoy is an actor who has appeared in Malayalam films and TV series. She revealed in an interview that she had never been interested in acting and that her father was the main reason why she became an actor. Her debut film Kalikaalam (2012) was directed by Lishoy’s close friend Reji Nair; her father encouraged her to try Kalikaalam and she got the role. She made her Kannada debut in 2015 with D Shivalinga’s directorial Mr. Premi’. She made her Telugu debut in 2021 with Ishq: Not a Love Story, a remake of the Malayalam film Ishq (2019).

Leona made her debut in the film industry with Reji Nair’s Kalikaalam (2012), but the film never released. In 2012, she starred in “Jawan of Vellimala”, playing the love interest (Jenny Varghese) of Asif Ali (Koshi Oommen); “Jawan of Vellimala” failed commercially, but Leona’s performance attracted people’s attention. She had a cameo appearance in Fahadh Faasil-starrer North 24 Kaatham (2013), which won the Malayalam National Film Award for Best Feature Film. In 2016, she played Dr. Teresa Roy in “Annmariya Kalippilaanu” directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The film was a commercial success and gave her a breakthrough in the industry.
Leona played the role of Sameera in the film Mayaanadhi (2017) starring Tovino Thomas; the film received positive reviews. In 2019, Leona played Anna Maria in the psychological thriller Attilan. She won critical acclaim for her performance as Mariya in the romantic thriller Ishq (2019), and she also starred in the film’s Telugu remake. In 2020, she was announced as one of the leads in the suspense thriller Anveshanam; Leona plays ACP Latha Siddarth IPS. She played the role of “Fida” in Jeehu Joseph’s suspense thriller “The 12th Man”.
In 2020, she played the role of ‘Thara Koshi’ in ‘Djinn’ directed by Sidharth Bharathan. Filming was completed in mid-2020; however, due to some reasons, the release was delayed to January 2023.

- During the interview, Leona revealed that she was diagnosed with stage 2 endometriosis and the impact it had on her mentally and physically. Leona only learned about the condition after undergoing another fibroid surgery. After her diagnosis, Leona said she was prescribed hormone pills, which caused her frequent mood swings and hampered her professional and personal life. During the shooting of ‘Twelfth Man’, Mohanlal, who had worked with Leona in the film ‘Ram’, inquired about her condition and suggested Ayurvedic treatment. According to her, Ayurvedic medicine is proven to be more effective.
