Levy Rozman was born in Brooklyn, New York, to a Russian family. He was born on December 5, 1995, and was born under the sign of Sagittarius. Gotham Chess is his alter ego.
He finished high school at a local private school in New York. He attended Baruch College for graduate school, majoring in Statistics and Quantitative Modeling with a minor in Finance. The four-year program ended in 2017.
He is of Russian origin, although he is an American citizen. Despite being born in the United States, he did not grow up speaking decent English as his parents only knew Russian.
