Lex Scott Davis shares exclusive details about Suits spin-off Fits LA

PEOPLE caught up with the actress at the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood event on Thursday, where she revealed Fits LA filming starts next month.

“There’s a pilot script, and that’s what we’re shooting in April,” Scott Davis revealed.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the pilot gets a serial order,” she added. “But I’m pretty excited. I’m pretty sure we’ll get our series order, for sure.”

The show follows Ted Black (Stephen Amell), a former New York federal prosecutor who “reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” according to the official diary.

Late last month, the 33-year-old actress was cast in the upcoming legal procedural drama as Erica Rollins, “a smart and strong rising star who works for Ted Black,” according to Deadline. The original series, which debuted on Netflix last June, set streaming records four years after the series finale.

“So [Suits] has a resurgence that has everyone excited. And so, news of relegation Fits LA it just gets crazy,” says the actress. “I love it too. It’s so much fun. I can’t wait to actually start.”

She also teases that “maybe” there will be “some kind of change to the original cast.”

“It’s not impossible,” Scott Davis continues. “I myself would like it to exist, but we will see. You never know.”

The L Word: Generation Q the actress also tells PEOPLE how “good” it feels to be a part of this production. “It’s something I prayed for, it’s something I manifested,” shares Davis Scott. “And even though it’s a pinching moment, it’s also a patting myself on the back.”

Davis Scott explains to PEOPLE that she’s “really proud” of her work, noting that sometimes women don’t give themselves that kind of “praise” or “applause.”

“I’m proud. I can stand here proudly and say I’m excited to fill such big shoes,” he says Ricky Stanicky actress. “But I know and I’m confident that I can handle it well, that I’ll be able to carry the torch well and make, hopefully, the original cast proud.”

“I worked very hard to earn the role,” she tells PEOPLE of her upcoming role as Erica Rollins. “I went in five times for this character and I really laid it all out for the producers and the show creator.”
