Lexi Reed has achieved a major fitness milestone — for the second time.
The social media influencer shared Monday that she lost 300 pounds, something she did before calciphylaxis derailed her fitness journey.
“I’m trying not to just come here and, like, scream and yell because I’m so excited,” she said in a post on her Instagram stories. “Today is a big deal.”
“I was trying to get to 300 pounds. i lost again and had to be 185 lbs. or less to guess it,” Reed said. “I started this journey at 485 lbs.”
However, as Reed noted, “life happened” — specifically, her calciphylaxis diagnosis. It’s a rare, debilitating disease that the Mayo Clinic explains occurs when “calcium builds up in the small blood vessels of fat and skin.”

Calciphylaxis causes “blood clots, painful skin ulcers and can cause serious infections that can lead to death” – and for Reed, the often fatal disease led to 59 weeks of treatment for painful sores all over his body last year.
But “I’m 183.8 lbs today,” said Reed, who first dropped to under 200 lbs. on Christmas.

“I lost 300 pounds again! I hit my target. I broke my goal. I worked myself up to get here and I’m so excited,” Reed said, adding that she looked up what else weighs 300 pounds and found she’s lost the equivalent of “a wooden pool table or a washing machine.”
“It’s just crazy because at 485 lbs., I’d be happy at 299 lbs.,” she said.
Reed continued, reflecting on his progress: “To that girl who didn’t know where life would take her. For that girl who didn’t know when she was fighting a rare disease if she would survive. Who was told that hospice might be an option. Who was told she would never lose weight. Who was told to just give up.”

“Only that I’m on the other side and that I’m healthy,” she said with a smile. “It’s not about the weight you lose, it’s about the life you gain. My joints don’t support about 300 pounds. more. I’m not out of breath all the time. I can walk a block. I can wear what I want. I can fit in my car. They can fit in a booth or ride a slide. Life is just so much better when you take care of yourself.”

“Yes, I’m just very proud of myself. I feel really good about how far I’ve come,” Reed said. “Never give up on yourself because at 485 lbs., I didn’t know if I would ever get here. And when life happened, I didn’t know if I would still be here.”
“So even though I’ve accomplished that big goal, I’m in the gym because ultimately I still have other goals,” said Reed, who later shared a video clip of herself on the elliptical. “This is for the rest of our lives.”
