Liam Payne's Girlfriend Kate Cassidy Speaks Out After His Death at Age 31: 'I Will Continue to Love You'

Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has paid tribute to the late One Direction star, who she was traveling with in the days before his death aged 31.

On Friday, October 18, the influencer published a post on her Instagram stories in memory of the singer, starting by thanking everyone “for all the kind words and love they sent me.”

“I was completely lost. Nothing in the past few days felt real,” she continued. “I ask and pray that you give me the grace and space to do this alone.”

She concluded her message by speaking directly to her boyfriend of two years, writing: “Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know that I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam .”

PEOPLE confirmed that Payne fell several stories at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday, October 16. The singer died of multiple injuries and “internal and external” bleeding after falling from a hotel balcony, according to a preliminary autopsy report.

The state Department of Corrections and Corrections confirmed to PEOPLE that 25 injuries in the autopsy were “compatible with those caused by a fall from a height” and noted that “injuries to the head were sufficient to cause death,” while “internal and external bleeding” of the skull, chest chest, abdomen and limbs contributed to Payne’s death.

The singer — who previously dated Cheryl and Maya Henry — was first spotted with Cassidy in October 2022. Although the two kept mostly quiet about their relationship at the time, Cassidy has been posting snippets of her and Payne’s romance, from red carpet photos to casual selfies.

Despite rumors of a breakup in May 2023, she and Payne appeared together at Wimbledon’s Evian Suite in July 2023. They were also seen at Paris Fashion Week in March 2024.

Liam Payne ‘had a lovely day’ and spent ‘quality time’ with girlfriend Kate Cassidy in latest social media posts

Cassidy appeared in various videos from Payne’s final Snapchat posts, which were uploaded from a friend’s house shortly before his death. The pair have been traveling abroad together and one of his last videos showed him and Cassidy “enjoying coffee and breakfast” at 1pm.

“A beautiful day in Argentina,” Payne captioned the shot. In another post, the pair posed together for a selfie with the caption “quality time” and a heart emoji.

“We’re going to ride horses. I think I’m going to play polo again, which will put me out of action for about six weeks. Honestly, polo more than anything I’ve ever done athletically, not Like I’m doing polo professionally, like I got to have fun, number one, my neck from swinging around or hammer, I think it’s called,” Payne told his social media followers.

“It hurts a lot. It’s very hard, but we’re enjoying it here,” he added.

Before paying tribute to Cassidy, the singer’s ex-girlfriend Aliana Mawla shared her condolences with photos she shared on her Instagram Stories.

Alongside a picture which appeared to show Payne at the gig, Mawla wrote: “I’m sorry this happened to you. I’ll love and miss you forever.”

The internet personality added another photo of Payne’s “L” and “P” tattoos on each of his hands, with her thumb seemingly resting in between. “rest in paradise,” she wrote over the picture.
