Danielle Olivera couldn’t believe the Summer house season 9 trailer when a pregnant Lindsay Hubbard told her that she and her boyfriend were not living together despite expecting their first child together.

“I just don’t want her to feel like you’re a single mom making this up,” Olivera, 35, tells Hubbard, 38, in the teaser.

But Hubbard, who announced the arrival of her daughter Gemma on Dec. 8, tells PEOPLE that she and Olivera sat down after their initial conversation on the beach and continued to discuss the former publicist’s decision not to move in with her boyfriend just yet.

“We went to lunch about a month ago, and after we talked about the whole life situation in more detail, she said, ‘Oh my God, now I totally understand your perspective,'” says Hubbard, who recently partnered with Jimmy John’s and enjoyed to your Vito sandwich in the delivery room after giving birth.

“I was like, ‘First of all, two years ago you were telling me I was moving too fast. Now you’re making me move in before I’m ready,'” the star added.

Lindsay Hubbard defends her decision to film Summer house Season 9 While I’m Pregnant: ‘Can You Not Party?’

The Bravo personality clarifies that she and her boyfriend, whose identity she has not publicly disclosed, still do not live together after the arrival of their daughter, “but he spent the night and is with me 24/7 the whole past. moon,” says Hubbard.

“And even though this is technically my apartment, this is our headquarters for the home of our daughter and me. He basically brought a bunch of clothes and toiletries and basically moves between my apartment and his, but he rarely leaves me and Gemma’s side,” he explains to PEOPLE.

Hubbard notes that since she got pregnant just months into their relationship, she didn’t want to put more on their plate when it came to moving in together.

“If I’ve learned anything from my past, especially my last relationship, it’s that nothing is guaranteed. And when you get pregnant so quickly in dating, I didn’t want to put any more strain on our relationship than the pregnancy, and a baby already puts that — a very big, lifelong strain,” she says. “I would like to say, ‘Step by step.’ And, yes, it’s a little backwards and a little wrong, but I wasn’t going to add myself to the to-do list.”

However, “it’s up for discussion,” Hubbard says of moving in with Gemma’s dad. “My lease expires in June. We talk a lot about school districts and making those decisions based on where we might send Gemma to school.”

In the near future, Hubbard says he’s looking forward to a low-key holiday season back home in New York. “We don’t really do anything for Christmas because we can’t. It’s too fresh and too new to be exposed to too many people right now; we can’t travel until he gets his shots, which is in two months,” Hubbard continues. “So we’re going to have a very quiet, nice Christmas at home.”

Hubbard says that, aside from being “a little sleep deprived,” she feels “great” two weeks after giving birth.

“My heart is so, so full,” says the reality star. “You always hear new parents say, ‘I never knew love like this existed,’ and then it happens to you and you’re like, ‘Now I totally get it.'”

She will have the experience of reliving her pregnancy in the upcoming season Summer house after last season ended with her co-star and then-fiancé Carl Radke calling off their engagement.

“It’s the first time in years that I feel good about a trailer and I’m excited to watch it,” she says. “Last season was, for obvious reasons, difficult to watch. And the season before that was also difficult for me. So, I’m really hoping that this season will be a good, positive, exciting season for me. I am so in love with this little girl and I miss her in my belly. So to be able to watch that in this season, I feel like it’s going to make me emotional.”
