Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Hold Hands on Freaky Friday 2 Set as Sequel Begins Filming

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are at it again.

More than 20 years after their original 2003 comedy, Lohan, 37, and Curtis, 65, are smiling and holding hands in a new photo from the set Strange Friday 2. They switched places, both sitting on the steps of the other star’s trailer.

An announcement shared by Walt Disney Studios on June 24 confirmed that the sequel is in production and will be released in theaters in 2025.

Lohan told PEOPLE in March that the new film is “in the works” and said she’s “excited to work with Jamie again and see how far we can take it.”

“Because we generally talk almost every other day, I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this,” Lohan added.

When Crazy Friday marked the 20th anniversary, the two stars reunited for an interview with The New York Times and touched on their “easy” friendship.

“We met in the office, we did the reading and the game took off in a big way. I had to let go of every control mechanism and let it fly,” Curtis said. “Lindsay was fluent like me. If you look The parent trap, she has an ability as an actress that is really impressive. It was a big job. It was a big production. And our relationship was very easy.”
